Something is
coming undone.
There comes a season when the life you built stops holding you. A relationship ends. A job stagnates. An identity begins to crumble. You look in the mirror and recognize you’re no longer the person you, or the world, thought you were. And you don’t know who you’re becoming. The gap can be terrifying. Something in you is cracking open. And some big things need to change.
The old maps name it many ways → the descent, the middle passage, the world turned upside down. It is the moment the self you built begins to feel like a costume you’ve outgrown.
Most of us don’t recognize it for what it is. We reach for what worked before: a new project, a new pursuit, the familiar pleasures of an earlier life. Or we double down and wait for the awkward longing to pass.
It doesn’t pass.
This is not a mishap.
And life will not simply resume…
This is a threshold.
◆ INITIATORY TIMES
There are no
wrong turns
In older, healthier cultures - of village, of mentors, of elders - people were tracking one another. When a life fell apart, the community gathered close and built the containment needed to alchemize disarray into medicine, both for the person and for the people.
In the cosmology I’ve been mentored into, there are no wrong turns. I don’t say this to bypass the real pain or consequence - these are a core part of the initiation. However, when we actually properly tend to these thresholds, the stuck and frightening moments become portals of necessary evolution. We move through the liminal time and emerge with a deeper, richer story - and a gift to offer ourselves and the world.
Relearning how to tend thresholds is the difference between being traumatized by life, and being forged with your soul’s medicine.
◆ THE WORK
You are not broken
So there is no fixing here. No rescuing. Not even advising. You are not broken, and this is not a problem to solve.
Instead, we weave culture, ritual, and support around you - much of it already present in your life, waiting to be gathered. Together we build real community, your own direct knowing, and a living dialogue with the source-keepers along your vertical axis: the spirits, and the ancestors.
This is what is ancestrally in your bones. It is what humans have always done at the edge of change: to be held, and to use ritual to transform.

A held space, woven over three to six months - well-paced, anchored by ritual, and no bull-shit.

Twice-Monthly Threshold Sessions
Two 90-minute sessions each month. Not your typical coaching calls - spaces for ritual, somatic inquiry, and the slow work of meaning-making, meeting whatever is alive in your passage.

Direct WhatsApp access to me between meetings - so the thread is never dropped when life moves fast, and you are accompanied through the in-between.

Hi, I’m John Wolfstone.
I'm a rites-of-passage guide, soul-mentor, filmmaker, and educator whose work centers around initiation, soul, culture, and ecological belonging.
For nearly two decades, I've guided individuals and groups through transformative processes - wilderness rites of passage, men’s initiation, ancestral healing, creative emergence, and cultural renewal.
I'm the co-director of The Village of Lovers film and the founder of multiple long-term mentorship and initiatory containers.
My work bridges ancient initiatory understanding with the realities of modern life.
